How to synchronize memoQ documents “slices”

It is advised to slice a document directly within the memoQ desktop application, to safely let several translators work within the same document at the same time and eliminate the risk of overwriting each other’s work.

Slicing will split the document into several memoQ parts (for ex. split the document in two equal number of segments or words, etc.).

Once a document is sliced in memoQ, different users can be assigned to each sliced part.

The user assignment can be done either in memoQ and will synchronize back to FlowFit, or the other way round: tasks assigned in FlowFit will synchronize the assigned users in memoQ.

During the synchronization process, FlowFit will automatically replicate the slices made in memoQ, by creating ‘'parallel tasks’' in the FlowFit project Tasks tab.

Each FlowFit task will be duplicated according to the number of slices made in memoQ, and the user assignment and the deadline of each slice will automatically synchronize.

The FlowFit parallel tasks will merge again (in order to reconstitute the full document) into one linear workflow once the last memoQ task sliced is completed by all parts. For ex. if there is a document sliced for translation, then revision, there will be parallel tasks for translation and revision, and once the revision tasks are all completed, the document will be back as a unique entity with one task attached to it (for ex. one delivery task, or DTP task, etc. following the memoQ revision).
